Today is World COPD Day
Today is the sixth annual World COPD Day, an event held each November to raise awareness of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) worldwide. On World COPD Day, dozens of activities for health care professionals, COPD patients, the general public, and the media will take place around the theme “Breathless Not Helpless!” Events in countries around the world will spread the word that there is help for COPD. In the United States, COPD is the fourth leading cause of death, and is expected to be the third leading cause of death by 2020. COPD, already a major cause of death worldwide, continues to grow as a health issue.
