Virginia Alpha runs to raise cancer funds, Alpha-1 awareness
RICHMOND, VA – Alpha Richard Moore will help raise funds for a local cancer center and raise some awareness of Alpha-1 at the same time, when he participates in his first 10k race March 27.
“I never really thought of doing this kind of thing until I saw my son recently complete a marathon. As I was waiting near the finish for him to come by, I found myself breathing harder and visualizing myself in the race. After a reality check, I realized a marathon was probably out of the question so I looked for other avenues,” says Moore.
The tenth annual Monument Avenue 10K race will be held Saturday, March 27, in Richmond. Over 35,000 participants of all ages gather each year to help support and raise funds for the Massey Cancer Center.
Moore encourages all Alphas in the Richmond area to come out and join him and his family to help raise Alpha-1 awareness.
“What I really want Alphas to know is, things are still possible and not to give up. It’s okay to slow down, but do not quit,” says Moore.
