Trine Engebretsen Meets the Family of Child Who Donated Her Life-Saving Liver
Miami Herald
MIAMI—Twenty-four years ago, a gravely ill Trine Engebretsen became Florida’s first liver transplant. A sickly 2-year-old, her life was saved by the grief-stricken parents of a Kentucky tot who donated the liver of their daughter, who died of a brain tumor.
And every day since then, Engebretsen has yearned for the day when she could meet the family of Amanda DeLapp—the organ donor—and thank them for their grace.
Friday was that day.
