Study Finds More Alphas than Expected in Germany

Werne, Germany—Hereditary defects are a larger contributing factor to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), than previously suspected, according to the German Society for Pneumology and Respiratory Medicine (DGP).

So far, it had been widely assumed in Germany that an estimated 8,000 people suffered from an inherited deficiency of Alpha-1- Antitrypsin.
