Stem cell researchers group website offers to check on bogus stem cell clinics

An independent nonprofit group of stem cell researchers has launched a website aimed at investigating bogus claims of stem cell clinics.

With stem cell research still in its infancy and only a few treatments approved, dozens of clinics have sprung up around the world offering stem cell treatment for diseases including arthritis, diabetes and multiple sclerosis, among others.

If you have seen an advertisement for a stem cell clinic or other stem cell treatment provider and want to know more about it, it’s a way to check.

The International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) is developing lists of clinics and other service providers that claim to offer stem cell treatments.

The lists will tell you whether the clinics provide the ISSCR with evidence that appropriate oversight and other patient protections are in place for the treatments they offer.
