Sifers wins Baylor Faculty Excellence Award

Rick Sifers, PhD, Associate Professor, Pathology, at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, has been awarded the Fulbright & Jaworski LLP Faculty Excellence Award in the category of Teaching and Evaluation.

This award recognizes distinguished educators for their exemplary teaching contributions, mentoring and achievements (both locally and internationally).

He taught in both the medical and graduate schools at Baylor and served as a course co-director in the latter. The award includes a five-year membership in the Academy of Distinguished Educators as well as an induction as a member.

Sifers has done extensive Alpha-1 research and has been awarded several Alpha-1 Foundation research grants, the most recent being a 2008 grant to study “PI-Z Polymer-Induced Re-Assignment of Degradation Route”.

In recent years, Sifers received awards as co-director for the best graduate course and best lecturer (for two consecutive years) in the BCM graduate school’s core curriculum.
