Rain forces postponement of Alpha Okies golf tournament; registration re-opens for tourney, now scheduled July 10
Heavy rain has forced the Alpha Okies to postpone their sixth annual “Find a Cure” Golf Classic Fundraiser scheduled for Saturday, May 15.
But now’s your chance to register for the postponed tournament—re-scheduled for Saturday, July 10, with an 8:30 tee time. Golfers now have till July 1 to register.
Dennis Pollock
Dennis Pollock, Alpha Okies president, in a note to everyone participating, said the host Silverhorn Golf Club in Oklahoma City has low water crossings and low bridges, “and all are under water.”
But he points to the good side to this: “I know everyone was wanting to play tomorrow, but let’s look on the bright side. This gives us more time to get more players and more money to fund research for the cure I know is out there.”
The tournament raises funds for Alpha-1 Foundation research programs.
Burgers and hot dogs will be served along with prizes and awards.
The evening will close with dinner and a prize ceremony for all winners. Prizes will also be awarded for hole in one, longest drive and closest to the pin.
Other prizes include a framed and signed Nolan Ryan jersey with authorized certificate (Donated by Sports Supply Group), four tickets to an at Texas Rangers Game (Donated by Texas Rangers), eight tickets to a suite, all inclusive, at an OKC Thunder Basket Ball Game (Donated by Advanced Foods) and many more.
