It's annual open enrollment time for Medicare drug plans
Naples Daily News
Homework time has rolled around again for anyone on a Medicare drug plan.
It means making a list of prescription medications they take and getting on the federal government’s Medicare Web site for comparison shopping of different drug plans for premiums, deductibles and changes in what drugs are covered.
Open enrollment in Medicare’s drug program began Nov. 15 and runs through Dec. 31, an end-of-the-year ritual since the Medicare Part D program debuted in January 2006.
The average national monthly premium that seniors can expect to pay for drug coverage in 2009 is $28, an increase of $3 a month compared to this year, according to the US Centers for Medicare & Medicaid.
