NHLBI's lung disease director to discuss the latest lung research at this Saturday's Alpha-1 education day in Alexandria, VA
ALEXANDRIA, VA—James Kiley, director of the Division of Lung Disease, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) will discuss the latest in lung research at the Alpha-1 Education Day this Saturday, March 6.
Kiley will keynote the Education Day at the Hilton Alexandria Hotel, for which reservations are still available.
Michael Krowka, MD, of the Mayo Clinic, will give a talk on Alpha-1 lung and liver disease, and Angela Abell, exercise physiologist at St. Mary’s Hospital, will talk about “how to get motivated to exercise.”
Other highlights of the day will be updates on the Alpha-1 Foundation and its research programs by John Walsh, president & CEO; an update on the Alpha-1 Association by Marlene Erven, executive director; and a talk on the genetics of Alpha-1 by Dawn McGee of the Alpha-1 Association Genetic Counseling Center.
Saturday’s program begins with a continental breakfast between 8-9 am. The event ends with a free patient dinner at 5:30 pm at the hotel.
