Michigan Alpha raising money for lung transplant

David Gilbert wants to climb Pikes Peak but also walk and talk at the same time.
“Walking and talking, forget it. I have to mentally prepare myself to walk out to the car,” he said. “Breathing is not a novelty. I know what a drowning victim feels like.”
Gilbert, 47, of Delton, MI, suffers from Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency. He is scheduled to undergo evaluation and testing for a lung transplant at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO, this month.
