Massachusetts Alpha marks the 10th anniversary of her lung transplant with a fundraising party

SOUTH BOSTON, MA—Claire Aspen-Sullivan celebrated the 10th anniversary of receiving her lung transplant with a most appropriate party. The anniversary party was both a celebration and a fundraiser.

Aspen-Sullivan received a double lung transplant at Massachusetts General Hospital Sept. 13, 2000. She needed the transplant due to lung disease from Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency.

“This milestone was a good excuse for a great party,” said Fred Walsh, another Massachusetts Alpha who attended the festivities.

Aspen-Sullivan had asked friends and family to come to her party and make a donation to two worthy causes. The money she raised has been divided between the Alpha-1 Foundation for research on Alpha-1 and a fund to assist with the medical and prescription drug costs of transplant recipients at Mass General.
