Las Vegas Regional Support Group Meeting Sept. 27

LAS VEGAS, NV – John Steinmetz, MBA, RRT, Director of Respiratory Care and Pulmonary Services at the Sunrise Children’s Hospital, will discuss the importance of pulmonary rehabilitation at the Las Vegas Regional Support Group Meeting Sept. 27.

Anthony Hodges, MD, FCCP, Medical Director of the Center for Thoracic Transplantation at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, will talk about the basics of Alpha-1 lung and liver disease. Hodges, a researcher on the effect of viral infections on the immune system in organ transplants, will also discuss surgical management of advanced Alpha-1.

Miriam O’Day, Senior Director of Public Policy for the Alpha-1 Foundation and the Alpha-1 Association will talk about advocacy opportunities.

Marlene Erven, Executive Director of the Alpha-1 Association, will give an update on the Association and John Walsh, President and CEO of the Alpha-1 Foundation, will give a Foundation update.

The meeting will also feature a patient panel on “The Caregiver and Patient Perspective.”

The meeting will be held at the Hampton Inn Tropicana.

The Education Day is supported by unrestricted grants from AlphaNet, Baxter, Centric Health Resources, CSL Behring and Talecris Biotherapeutics.
