Georgia Alpha-1 Education Day April 17 features talks about exercise, latest research (and how to participate), and living with lung or liver disease

Learn how to live comfortably with a chronic disease.

You can do all this and more at the upcoming Alpha-1 Education Day on Saturday, April 17.

The day starts with “The Basics of Alpha-1 Lung Disorder and Current Research” by Mark Brantly, MD, professor of medicine at the University of Florida.

Ginger Clark, MD, assistant professor of medicine at the University of Florid, will discuss “Alpha-1 Liver Disease,” and Lynda T. Goodfellow, associate professor at Georgia State University, will share helpful hints on “How to Get Motivated to Exercise.”

Dawn McGee, MS, CGC, of the Alpha-1 Association Genetic Counseling Center, will talk about “Living with a Chronic Disease.”

Other highlights of the day include an Alpha-1 Foundation update by Angela McBride, director of development, an Alpha-1 Association update by Marlene Erven, executive director, and a discussion by Mark Brantly on the “Importance of Participating in Research”.

The event will be at the Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta Airport North, 3437 Bobby Brown Parkway, East Point, GA 30344. A free patient dinner sponsored by AlphaNet, Baxter, Centric Health Resources, CSL Behring and Talecris Biotherapeutics Center for Science and Education will be held at 5:30 pm Saturday at the hotel.
