Foundation offers training on fundraising in March; key part of Building Friends for a Cure program
Alphas and their families sometimes think they would like to raise funds to help with research for a cure – but aren’t sure how to go about it.
Others have done some fundraising, and would like to learn how to do more. Almost anyone, at any fundraising experience level, can learn more skills and gain more confidence.
We have good news for them all.
The Alpha-1 Foundation will be hosting a Building Friends for a Cure Training on Friday, March 12 in Needham, MA. Everyone who attends will learn how easy it is to raise awareness for Alpha-1. They’ll also walk away with the tools they need to raise funds for Alpha-1 research in their community.
The Foundation is looking for people who are willing to commit to planning an event in the next 12 months.
If that describes you, we’ll give you the tools you need. We provide training on building committees, volunteer management and securing sponsors. We make sure you understand budgeting for the event and show you how to make your fundraiser profitable. The skills taught will range from negotiating venue costs to organizing profit centers such as silent auctions and raffles.
Media training will be included, as well as specific guidance on how to organize a themed dinner, a walk, a golf tournament and a bowling event.
We will provide transportation to Boston, hotel accommodations, and the opportunity to attend the “Celtic Connection” event on Saturday March 13, where you will receive hands-on training on how the organizers put together this event.

The Alpha-1 Foundation’s Building Friends for a Cure program is centered on facilitating and empowering Alphas to increase funding to support our research mission.
