Foundation joins in effort to increase NIH research funding
WASHINGTON—The Alpha-1 Foundation and the Alpha-1 Association joined more than 230 other organizations in requesting that the economic stimulus package now being prepared in Congress include $1.9 billion in new funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
This package will provide support to more than 5,000 additional research grants, in an effort to help find cures for various diseases and improve the quality of life for all Americans. These research efforts will also help create new jobs, products and improved technologies to help strengthen our struggling economy.
