Foundation urges Alpha community to submit comments to NIH on guidelines for embryonic stem cell research
MIAMI – The Alpha-1 Foundation is urging members of the Alpha-1 community to take the opportunity to comment on pending National Institutes of Health (NIH) draft guidelines for federal funding of embryonic stem cell research.
The NIH has released draft guidelines to create a framework for federal funding of embryonic stem cell research. This action was taken following President Obama’s Executive Order to establish policies and procedures for NIH to administer research funding. The guidelines establish the ethical and scientific framework for the administration of grants within the applicable laws.
The guidelines are now in draft form, allowing the public an opportunity to comment. The NIH will review all comments prior to releasing final guidance.
