MIAMI — AlphaNet, Inc., a national not-for-profit specialty disease management organization, has made a contribution of $500,000 to the Alpha-1 Foundation. With this gift, more than $33 million has been donated by AlphaNet to the Foundation since 1997.

The Alpha-1 Foundation aggressively supports university-based research to find a cure for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (Alpha-1), a genetic disorder which can lead to life-threatening liver and lung disease.

“Our AlphaNet family is proud to be able to provide additional funding in our continuing quest to conquer the impact of this debilitating disorder,” said AlphaNet CEO, Robert C. Barrett. “Through creative entrepreneurship we have built a financially stable organization that not only helps those with the disorder, but helps the medical community have a greater understanding about its causes and treatments.”

John W. Walsh, Alpha-1 Foundation president & CEO, said, “We are all so thankful for the continued support of AlphaNet. Their financial support can only be equaled by the incredible level of service they provide to the Alpha-1 community, working every day to help improve the quality of life for those of us with this difficult diagnosis.”
