MA Alpha's "Donna Reed" Life on Hold, Awaiting Transplant

Maryanne Jackson, of Worchester, MA, had a seemingly happy and full life: a home, a husband, and two children. Then in 1989 her whole world came crashing down when she was diagnosed with Alpha-1. Despite other troubles along the way, Jackson has remained positive and upbeat—a state of mind that will hopefully lead her along the path to a lung transplant.

Jackson suffers from Alpha-1 lung disease and is in the end-stages of the condition. She needs a double-lung transplant to survive.

”...I have a good life. There are worse stories around than mine. It’s not about ‘poor me.’ It’s just about me. I’ve been through a lot, and I came out on the other side.”
