Alpha-1 Association national conference still scheduled for San Francisco June 5-7; swine flu advisory posted
The Alpha-1 Association’s 18th Annual National Education Conference in San Francisco June 5-7 is proceeding as planned.
“In the USA most swine flu cases have had mild disease, very similar to regular seasonal flu. However, we recognize that the H1N1 (swine) flu virus remains a problem in the US and around the world and that staying at home is the best way to avoid infection,” says the Association announcement. “Traveling can present a risk of infection or exacerbation to individuals with Alpha-1 and the possibility of exposure to flu adds to this risk. Anyone with any symptoms of fever, wheezing or signs of an exacerbation should consider canceling.”
The Association is offering detailed advisory information on the swine flu, as well as a refund of the registration fee to anyone who wishes to cancel because of health concerns.
