A great week for Alpha-1 research
The Alpha-1 Foundation’s Building Friends for a Cure Program hosted two events on Saturday that created awareness about Alpha-1 and raised $25,000 – money that will be doubled by Talecris Biotherapeutics through our Million Dollar Match Grant.
The Oklahoma Support Group called Alpha-Okies hosted their Fifth Annual “Find a Cure” Golf Tournament Fundraiser and raised $10,000.
Team Alpha also held their Second Annual George Washington Bridge walk and raised $15,000 to date. 115 Alphas and their families came out to show their support in finding a cure for Alpha-1. Alpha-1 Foundation president and CEO John Walsh attended the walk and dedicated the day to motivating the community.

“Watching Dr. Turino and all his fellow Alpha-1 patients and friends walking briskly along the bridge inspired us all,” said Angela McBride, Director of Development for the Alpha-1 Foundation and fellow bridge walker.
All proceeds from these two events benefit the Alpha-1 Foundation’s research and programs.
We’d like to congratulate Dennis Pollock, the Alpha-Okies, Lori Tartell, Joe Reidy and all the volunteers for organizing their events.
