Team Alpha-1 Events
Join or Organize a Team Alpha-1 Event!
Team Alpha-1 was created to encourage participation of Alphas throughout the country to promote awareness, detection and raise funds in support of research and programs.
The Alpha-1 Foundation’s Team Alpha-1 participation at American Lung Association (ALA) Bike Treks, American Liver Foundation (ALF) Walks and similar community, national and international sporting events. It is estimated that Team Alpha-1 has participated in 80 events in the US and 5 international events, logged over 100,000 miles, and fielded over 500 volunteer riders, walkers, and runners. Events include ALA, ALF, and other athletic events, where family and friends, of Alphas also volunteer to participate and assist in these local, national and international sporting events.
How to Organize an Event:
If you would like to organize an event please contact Angela McBride at 1-888-825-7421 ext. 233, or email: amcbride@alphaone.org. For those who choose to raise funds online they may set up a website on www.firstgiving.org/alpha-1foundation by registering under their name and with the organization listed as “Alpha One Foundation.” All contributions made online go directly to the Alpha-1 Foundation, less a 7.35% administration fee. For larger contributions, Team members collect checks made payable to the Alpha-1 Foundation directly where possible.
