How To Help

Community Fundraisers

Organizing a fundraising event is one way to support The Alpha-1 Foundation and raise awareness and funding for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency research. We are extremely grateful for the efforts of many individuals and organizations that coordinate fundraising events and choose to donate the proceeds to the Foundation. The hard work and commitment of these individuals makes an enormous difference in advancing our mission.

To get you started, we will provide you with our Building Friends for a Cure Manual. It includes fundraising guidelines and a list of fundraising ideas that have been proven to be successful.

Building Friends for a Cure Community Fundraisers can be categorized in two ways: Community Outreach and Team Alpha-1 Events.

Community Outreach – Building Friends for a Cure:

You can take action and raise money by planning a social event—like a themed party, letter writing campaign or lunch box auction event at work.

Team Alpha-1:

Organize an athletic event, like a walk-a-thon, bowling contest or a miniature golf event.

If you plan to organize a fundraiser, we request that you contact the Foundation to discuss your idea (six months prior to the event, if possible), review the Building Friends for a Cure Manual and register your event with us.

The Foundation will assist you by providing you with information and/or brochures, which may be handed out at the event, and answering questions you may have.
